Meet Our Executives
Richard David
An Australian by birth, Richard David is a real estate developer and investor with more than four decades of experience. He has worked for many notable names in the industry, including Macquarie Bank and Treasury Holdings, where he was the CEO and Board Director. He secured investments from global institutions such as InvestCo, Canada Life, MetLife, JP Morgan, and Morgan Stanley during his seven-year tenure as a public company CEO.
Richard also worked as a western real estate developer in mainland China, combining the facets of direct development (over 5,000 residential units built and sold) with the discipline of private equity. This targeted the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, AMP Insurance, and Schroder Capital clients.
In 2007, he became CEO and Board Director of Treasury Holdings, overseeing a portfolio of commercial, retail, and logistic real estate assets worth over USD2B and managing over 120 staff across five offices in Asia. He was responsible for the London, UK China Real Estate business, which was about to be listed at the time.
Starting Proventus
After selling a listed platform to a Hong Kong-based real estate business in 2013, Richard established Proventus Group and moved its operations to British Columbia in Canada in 2017. His overall success earned him The Gold Magnolia, Shanghai’s highest accolade awarded to foreigners, for his contribution to Business and Community
After establishing Proventus, Richard focused on developing successful real estate projects in Canada. In addition to his business acumen, he has completed various courses and programs to continue his personal development, including a Certificate in Construction Management from Dalhousie University in 2020 and a Rental Property Management Licensing Course at UBC Sauder Business School under the auspices of the BC Financial Services Authority in 2023. He has also been a Deloitte University Asia Pacific faculty member since 2017. He has provided his business acumen and expertise as a global client to mentor Deloitte partners and senior executives.
Richard’s Education
Richard is an alumnus of Australia’s Queensland University of Technology. In 2014, he successfully completed the Harvard University Graduate School of Design, Advanced Management Development Program.
Cindy David
Prior to relocating to Canada in 2017, Cindy David worked for 16 years in Marketing, Research, and Investor Relations in the financial and real estate industries in Shanghai, Beijing, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
Cindy first entered the real estate industry through CB Richard Ellis, where she worked in its Beijing, Shanghai, and Singapore offices and gained extensive knowledge in various property sectors encompassing residential, retail, office, and industrial.
In 2005, Cindy joined Macquarie Goodman, one of the largest Australian industrial property trusts initially based in Hong Kong. When the business expanded into the China market, she moved to Shanghai to head up the marketing division and assist the investment team with acquiring seed assets.
In 2009, Cindy joined Treasury Holdings Group, an Irish developer with a USD 2B commercial real estate portfolio in China. She worked at Treasury Holdings as Director of Marketing and Investor Relations, where she was responsible for investor relations of Forterra Trust, a Singapore-listed Business Trust managed by Treasury Holdings Group.
Cindy’s Education
Cindy graduated from Nankai University with a Bachelor’s in Economics in 1996. She also has an MBA from the University of Warwick and a certificate in Investor Relations granted by the Investor Relations Association in the UK and Singapore.
After moving to Canada, Cindy continued to work in the real estate industry by undertaking several investment and development projects through Proventus. In January 2022, she received a Diploma of Interior Design from the Interior Design Institute of Canada and became a licensed REALTOR® in British Columbia.
